More pictures of me

Here's another scrapbook page, I hope the text comes through this time. I'm doing old pictures of me; thanks to my mom and dad for providing them. I'm trying to get the stories that go with the pictures and make sure the dates are correct. I've given my parents this blog, in hopes they will participate with me on this. It's just hard sometimes to get the information, and we don't remember as well as we used to (at least that's how I am). I thought I'd start with me and then my brothers, and get my parents in there as well. I have a lot of their pictures, and want to get them back to them as soon as possible. I am scanning as I go. This page is from PS6.

Me (Ginger) at 3 months

Well, I'm kind of on my way for scrapbook pages, it's a little difficult for me yet, but I am trying. The first scrapbook page was of me at about 6 months, these pictures are of me at 3 months, with my mom, and my dad's mom. I would think it might be mother's day.

My first scrapbook page

Here is my first attempt at a scrapbook page, I'm just learning so please be kind. I took the background out of PS6 artwork. So, be kind and let me know what you think.

Mothers Day 2008

I've not been very good at updating my blog. It's been almost 2 weeks from Mothers day and I had pictures taken and didn't add them. I've been so bummed at not understanding the Photoshop 6, to do scrapbook pages; I just didn't do much on my blog. Anyway, here are some pictures from Mothers Day of my children and grandchildren. My daughter and son-in-law, had their mothers over for breakfast; which was really yummy! My son came with me, because he hadn't been to their new house and my husband was working):. After we ate and visited and played the WII, we went for a walk and took pictures. So here they are....

Ho-Hum.... I'm struggling

Just to bring you up to date.... I purchased the photoshop 6 software, that everyone is raving about. I think it will be wonderful, once I learn how to use it, but I am very technology hindered. It seems, that I have been able to understand how to get a digital page into the workspace, and even a picture; but I can't seem to get the picture on the page. I get so frustrated when I don't understand, that I just walk away from it for awhile. So instead of digital, I have been working on my 2007 creative memories everyday album. My daughter is a creative memories consultant, and is very talented. She also understands the digital scrapbooking, much more than I do. So, she has offered to help me with this, when she has time. Maybe next time I post, I will have some scrapbook pages for you.

scrapbooking and geanology

My goal for this blog is to have scrapbook pages of heritage and genealogy. This way I can print off my pages for other people who might want a copy. The genealogy I have worked on, a little here and little there for the last 10 years. It became important when my first granddaughter, was born.

When I first started scrapbooking, I had most of my pictures in decent type albums; but I did have some in those sticky albums. Especially our first pictures, that was the rave in the 70's. So, I took the pictures all out and tried to put them into chronilogical order. Then my dad was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer and only gave a few months to live. I'm happy to report he is still kicking and his cancer is in remission. I stopped what I was doing at the time on my scrapbooks and did a genealogy/through the life of my dad scrapbook. When I finished I decided I liked the themed scrapbooks so I did a friend album, travel album, and Christmas albums. Now I am doing everyday albums. Oh, I also did a wedding album. My pictures are in a power sort box from creative memories, they have gone down in size from the old pictures but I keep adding pictures. Hopefully, when I get the software for digital scrapbooking I can get the pictures on my blog.

To Begin

I was born in Northwestern New York, in a small town called Jamestown. My dad worked at Carborendum, above the furnace for several years. He then started his own business as a service station owner. He had a setback and decided to move us all to Newport News, Virginia. He was taught how to weld, and pipefit on the big ships there. This was when the busing started in the early 70's. I got lost my first day of school, and the bus left without me. They locked the school immediately after the last bus left. I decided I could walk home, I could see the highway; once I got there I knew how to get home. After all, I was 13 and almost an adult. I saw the field I could walk through to get there, just as I was going a little boy came up to me and asked if I planned on walking through the field. I told him I was, I had to get home. He said you see those boys over there, and pointed to halfway across the field and way in the corner by a fence. I told him yes, and he said they were waiting for me, to do something bad to me. He told me to follow him and he'd get me to the highway another way, so I did....

A guy I had just started dating, (who had a car) had already been called by my mom to look for me. He was on the highway and made a u-turn when he saw me and took me home. There were cops all over the place, when I explained what happened; I don't know how many times I was told how lucky I was.

After that, we moved to a little town called Mina Corners in N.Y.. This is where I met my husband of almost 33 years. We were friends, for a year or so; then started dating. We were married in my Grandmothers church in Westfield, NY. It was standing room only and at 17, this was very scary to have all these people watching me.

A little over a year after we were married, we were blessed with a beautiful daughter. My parents had moved to Denver, Colorado. We went there on vacation, my husband put an application in at Coors and was hired. He moved us out to Colorado in 1976, and we have lived in this beautiful state since. Three years later, we were blessed with a son.

After that it was, taking care of children, paying bills and working. I was one of the rare women at that time, that went to work; in fact my husband was razzed at work about him not being able to support us. Even though, it was me that wanted a career.

I went into banking and for 28 years worked in that industry. From tellering, to being a regional manager, to business banking, commercial and residential lending, and collections. I was getting tired of the rat race and a small business owner talked me into coming to work for him. Which I did for 3 months, when I was on vacation; I learned he had closed his business.

Another person I knew through some business networking had been trying to get a hold of me to talk about a position he thought would be good for me. I had a job within 3 days after I got back from vacation, without putting out a resume.

I now have been made partner in a business that writes business plans, consults, and trains, and finds working capital for businesses. It's almost been a year and I am having a great time.

How could I almost forget to talk about my 2 beautiful granddaughters. They are the stars and sun of our life. They are 11, and 9, and live about 15 minutes from us. I will post pictures in the near future.
